Photograph Mind

Hans and his mirror image sat silently in their chairs, facing away from eachother. Each one had the funny feeling that something strange had happened, yet neither one having discovered the other, both were content to let the feeling fester as they placidly observed their surroundings. The Hans facing left could see through the tiny window of his house a rock jutting out over his lawn, and on it a beautiful young mermaid with gold hair that wavered gently in the breezeless afternoon. She was gazing sadly at him, and clutched a mirror in her left hand. Hans waved shyly at her, thinking that he recognized her from somewhere when really he didn't.

There was also a tin soldier on the windowsill missing one leg that Hans couldn't help but glance at as he pondered away.
The Hans facing right was, curiously, feeling the same sense of deja vu as he observed a swan glide past his window. Or could it be that he knew the strange man strutting about outside?
'What a silly thing. New clothes, do doubt," Hans laughed to himself, for the man was walking around with just a crown and a pair of underwear.
Hans didn't dare look in the corner; he sensed what was there, by the chill. An ice queen, pale and thin as glass, causing winter all about her.
How he knew this Hans could not explain, but he didn't doubt himself. Why should he?
The two men continued to stare solemnly in different directions, contemplating their creations.
