The last day of our hike was much better than the previous. We were not embedded in a storm cloud the entire way, so we climbed up and over Mt. Madison. My feet and legs were absolutely killing me as we clomped over the terrain, and I also had to contend with my growing, perhaps irrational, fear of heights. Will and Spring constantly gave me advice about how to move faster, which I eventually took. We did eventually make it, and by that point I was absolutely done. No more.

Good, Maria. Lived it. Hill walking used to be my first love until it wore my right knee cap so badly I had to give it up. The pleasure now has to be vicarious.
